Ming Aziz said he was aware of the allegation.

“We are aware. I don’t know the details but we are closely monitoring and will take appropriate action in response,” he said.

“I believe Singaporeans have a right to have private, family-oriented and individualized healthcare in our country and we are committed to providing a high quality, timely and effective healthcare care system.

“Our healthcare system has been upgraded by the government in the past five years and is now the best in Asia. This has given Singaporeans access to quality healthcare services.

“As the Prime Minister said, we will continue to continue to push on the reforms that are essential for our healthcare system to continue to be world class. We will continue to work together to bring down the cost of healthcare so it will make a difference for the people of Singapore and we are hopeful that we can make some progress.

“We will do our utmost to ensure that all Singaporeans have access to affordable healthcare. We will also do all we can to provide the best quality of healthcare service to the people of Singapore.”

Aziz said this will be a full and honest statement and assured the Singaporeans that we are currently taking steps to resolve this issue.”

Aziz’s comments came after a government response on the matter.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health said this was “not an uncommon occurrence” when it came to allegations of bribery by those working for the ministry.

“They may be in a position to use their positions not to conduct the proper business of the ministry but to engage in unlawful practices without the knowledge of their bosses.”

The statement said staff members are required to “follow correct corporate governance procedures and adhere to government laws and regulations regarding the conduct of their duties”.

In the latest episode, Aziz’s name was raised by a blogger, Simon Chan Ng, when he posted a video interview with a man who said he was a “professional employee” at the Ministry of Health (MOH) on YouTube.

In the interview, the man said he was asked to act “like a prostitute” to attract clients from the department which is responsible for conducting the clinical trials that will be presented to the government.

Singapore News Service (SNS) contacted the ministry for comment. The ministry was then asked for a copy of documents that allegedly show the man asked employees to obtain sex
